A former custodian in the Sun Prairie School District was sentenced to three years in prison in a child pornography case.

The school district sent a letter to parents in November 2015 saying that Brett Berryman had been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography.

Berryman pleaded no contest Wednesday to four counts of possession of child pornography. The other 13 counts were dismissed, but read in during sentencing. He was sentenced to three years in prison and three years of extended supervision.

Berryman worked at Royal Oaks Elementary School last and was a custodian in the facilities and grounds department from November 2007 to October 2015.

Berryman was placed on leave when the district was notified that he was under investigation. Berryman resigned Oct. 1, 2015, according to the letter.

District officials said the investigation was thorough and there was no evidence of wrongdoing at the school.
