Former Sun Prairie basketball star Jalen Johnson selected by Atlanta Hawks in NBA Draft
Jalen Johnson will become the latest high school basketball star from Wisconsin to make it to the NBA after being selected in the first round of Thursday night’s NBA Draft.
The former Sun Prairie and Nicolet High School star who spent part of the last season at Duke was picked 20th overall by the Atlanta Hawks.
Johnson played his first two years in high school at Sun Prairie before transferring to Nicolet High School in Glendale, where he was named Wisconsin’s Associated Press Player of the Year during his junior year of high school.
He was rated as a five-star recruit out of high school and committed to Duke after also getting offers from Kentucky, Arizona and Wisconsin.
Johnson only played part of his freshman season for Duke, however, deciding in mid-February he would sit out the rest of the college basketball season after playing just 13 games.
