Former dance hall destroyed by fire
BRODHEAD, Wis. — A former dance hall in Brodhead was destroyed by fire Tuesday night.
Numerous fire departments were called to W856 Highway 11 at 6:54 p.m. for a report of a fire, and found the building fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.
Fire officials said the building was being used as a storage facility for hay.
Brodhead Fire Department First Assistant Chief Chris Searles said round bales near the front canopy of the building were difficult to extinguish. He said a local landscaper used a bobcat to assist with tearing the bales apart so they could be extinguished.
Salt trucks were brought in to assist with freezing water near the fire.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
