Flooding at Little Sugar River leaves Monticello underwater
VILLAGE OF MONTICELLO, Wis. — Little Sugar River isn’t so little anymore after extreme flooding in the Village of Monticello.
People in the area told News 3 that the water is getting into the basements of nearby businesses and homes.
M&M Cafe is right next door to the river and there is a 5-foot berm protecting the structure, but the water still gets in. The owner of the cafe is upset because there are 8 feet of water in the basement and climbing.

Monticello Chief of Police Szvon Conway has worked in the area for nearly two decades and said the area has seen flooding before, but not like Tuesday’s.
“If you are dealing with heavy flooding, evacuate your home. Many roads are covered in water. Please be safe and turn around,” Conway said.
Officials say, if you do see flooding, reach out to the Green County Emergency Management at 608-328-9416, but if you are in danger call 911.
