Fix-it Bicycle Stations to help Madisonians with bike repair

JUST Bikes unveiled a bicycle repair station in the Bayview Neighborhood Monday.

The Fix-it Bicycle Station comes equipped with various tools needed to keep bikes in working shape. JUST Bikes will also be launching a bike repair education program to teach community members proper bicycle upkeep.

According to project organizers, making bicycle repair accessible and easy is a part of empowering people to embrace independence.

“Biking is not just for the privileged community,” said Baltazar Deanda Santana, director of programming at the Wisconsin Bike Federation. “Biking is not just for rich people. Biking is for everybody.”

This is the first of five repair stations that will be installed in community centers across Madison. The project is being funded by a grant from the Madison Community Foundation.
