RIO, Wis. — Five people were hurt, including a child, after a vehicle rolled over Friday night.

Columbia County Sheriff’s officials said the crash occurred just after 8:30 p.m. on Highway 16 west of Rio. The vehicle was traveling west when it left the road and rolled over in a ditch.

Officials said eight people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, four adults and four children. That was reportedly more than the safe seating capacity for the vehicle.

All four adults were injured and two were taken by helicopter to UW Hospital for treatment. One of the children sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
