Fitchburg welcomes new chief of police
FITCHBURG, Wis. — The city of Fitchburg is welcoming a new police chief Thursday.
The police and fire commission selected Lt. Chad Brecklin for the role.
He has been with the department for the past 20 years and brings both patrol and investigative experience. Officials say he was selected because of his vision for problem- and community-oriented policing.
“We’re going to continue our outreach efforts and building relationships and really trying to talk with the people that live in our community in a variety of neighborhoods to find out what they want to see from their police department, what issues are occurring in their neighborhood and what we can do to help resolve some of those issues,” Brecklin said.
Thursday officials also thanked retired Chief Tom Blatter for his 40 years of service.
Brecklin said he will follow Blatter’s example continuing to keep officers visible and active in the community.
