Fitchburg family displaced by garage fire

A Fitchburg family was displaced by a fire Sunday night, an official told News 3.

Crews responded to a report of smoke in a building at in the 2600 block of Norwich Street at 11 p.m., a Fitchburg file official said.

The fire was in the garage. The family of four who were home were able to get out of the duplex before crews arrived.

The Red Cross will be assisting the family who are out of their home, officials said. The other side of the duplex is habitable.

An estimate on how much damage the fire caused will cost to repair was not available Sunday night.

Officials are investigating the cause.
