First snow, then bitterly cold -Dana

MADISON, Wis. — Another quick round of light snow will visit southern Wisconsin Wednesday night, then temperatures will become bitterly cold for the end of the week.

A weather system will drive light snow and flurries into the area late Wednesday.

The snow will continue overnight. As a cold front passes over southern Wisconsin, it will also become windy and colder.

Any light snow or flurries will come to an end early Thursday, then skies will become partly sunny.Most of southern Wisconsin will see 1-3″ of accumulation. Snow accumulation totals will be highest areas southeast of Madison.

Behind the cold front, temperatures will drop during the day Thursday. Overnight low temperatures into Friday morning will fall to the double digits below zero. Wind chills will range from -15 to -25.

An Alert Day is in the forecast for Wednesday night and Thursday morning for accumulating snow; morning commutes will likely take longer than usual Thursday. Another Alert Day is in for Thursday and Friday due to the bitterly cold weather.
