First chance of severe weather comes this weekend
Winds up to 60 mph possible
MADISON, Wis. — A large storm system moving through the Midwest this weekend will produce our first meaningful chance of severe weather this season on Saturday.
According to News 3 meteorologist Bob Lesh, a frontal boundary will be setting up right across southern Wisconsin on Saturday, and showers and thunderstorms will be moving along a line from northern Missouri into southern Wisconsin. Some of these storms have the potential to form clusters which could include some severe thunderstorms.
The biggest threat from these storms will be strong winds in excess of 60 mph and hail over 1 inch in diameter, Lesh said.
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a slight risk of severe weather for the area on Saturday, mainly for the afternoon.
