Firefighters respond to fire at their own firehouse
MAYVILLE, Wis. — Firefighters in Mayville responded to a fire Saturday night at a building quite familiar to them: their own firehouse.
Firefighters were called to the fire station at 522 Horicon St. at 10:07 p.m. after a passerby reported seeing flames. Crews found a vehicle on fire inside the station, the department said in a news release.
Firefighters put out the fire, which was contained to the one vehicle. The station was ventilated due to heavy smoke, officials said.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said Horicon Street was closed at Clark Street for nearly two hours while firefighters put out the blaze.
