Firefighter injured in early morning house fire Saturday, officials say

A Fitchburg firefighter was transported to a local hospital with minor fire-related injuries following an early morning residential fire Saturday, officials told News 3.

Officials said they received a call around 5:30 a.m. regarding a house fire in the 4000 block of Aztec Trail in Fitchburg and have been at the scene for at least seven hours now.

The house is a total loss, with firefighting efforts being complicated by the cold, authorities told News 3.

Equipment was freezing and a warming bus was needed at the scene, according to officials.

Authorities said residents suffered minor injuries but none required transport to a hospital.

The Fitchburg fire department told News 3 that the cause of the fire is unknown and they are continuing to investigate.
