Fire Displaces Family In Town Of Dunkirk

A late-night fire displaced a family in the Town of Dunkirk on Wednesday.

Dane County sheriff’s officials said its deputies and the Stoughton Fire Department responded to a home on the 2300 block of Stebbinsville Road just before 11 p.m. for the report of a chimney fire. When crews arrived, the fire had spread to the home’s roof and eventually, engulfed the entire structure, according to officials.

Officials said everyone inside — two adults and two children — made it out safely. The family is now staying with relatives in Stoughton.

The Sheriff?s Department said the home appears to be a total loss, but damage estimates aren’t available yet.

An exact cause has not been determined, but it doesn’t appear to be suspicious, according to officials.
