Fire destroys home east of Milton
Sheriff's office: Fire started in small shed near house
TOWN OF LIMA, Wis. — The Rock County Sheriff’s Department said a home was engulfed in flames when deputies responded to a call of a structure fire in the Town of Lima Thursday evening.
Deputies responded to the fire at a two story home in the 12000 block of East Berg Road in the Town of Lima around 6:45 p.m. Thursday.
Homeowners were able to exit the residence safely, according to the sheriff’s department. Fire units from six different departments responded to the fire and worked for five hours battling the blaze.
However, the sheriff’s department said the fire quickly spread through the residence, and the building is considered a total loss.
Sheriff’s officials said their initial investigation showed the fire apparently started in a small shed located a few feet from the house.
Officials said it’s not knows what caused the shed to start on fire, but the shed did contain a wood burning furnace and several piles of wood. Once the shed caught on fire, the flames quickly spread to the house, according to the sheriff’s department.
