Fire destroys barn in Janesville
No injures were reported
JANESVILLE, Wis. — An overnight fire destroyed a barn that was being used as a garage in Janesville.
The Janesville Fire Department was dispatched to 4009 N. County F at 12:17 a.m. Sunday on a report of a fire.
Firefighters found an approximately 30 feet by 50 feet detached metal pole barn with smoke coming from the eaves of the structure.
Fire was also visible in the attic/truss space. Due to the heavy fire inside the building, mutual aid was requested from the Milton, Edgerton, and Evansville fire departments.
The entire building and its contents were lost in the blaze. Fire damage loss is estimated to be approximately $20,000 for the structure and $3,000 for the property stored inside.
Heat damage also occurred to the driver’s side of a Frito Lay delivery truck parked behind the building, according to a Janesville Fire Department news release.
A backhoe from the Janesville Public Works Department assisted with overhauling and putting out hot spots in the building. Firefighters remained at the scene for about three and a half hours.
No injuries were reported. A cause for the fire has not been determined and remains under investigation, the Janesville Fire Department said.
Officials said the fire does not appear suspicious at this time.
