JANESVILLE, Wis. — A fire caused an estimated $80,000 in damage to a home in Janesville Thursday afternoon, the city’s fire department said.

The fire was reported just before 5 p.m. at a home in the 1400 block of Greenwich Lane, fire officials said in a news release.

When firefighters got to the scene, they found flames coming from the back of the house. Crews were able to put out the fire and also rescue two dogs and a cat. Another cat remains unaccounted for.

No one was hurt in the fire, and everyone inside at the time got out before firefighters arrived, the release said.

The American Red Cross is helping the four adults and two children who live in the home.

Investigators are still working to figure out what caused the fire.
