Fire causes $60,000 in damage at Janesville scrap yard
JANESVILLE, Wis. — A fire at a Janesville scrap yard Friday morning caused nearly $60,000 in damage, according to the Janesville Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to a reported commercial fire at Jeff’s Scrap Metal on the city’s west side around 11:50 a.m. and were able to quickly extinguish the fire, officials said in a news release.
Officials said the fire caused $40,000 in damage to the building and damaged $20,000 in contents.
No one was injured in the fire, which remains under investigation, the release said.
