JANESVILLE, Wis. — A fire at a manufacturing and distribution facility on Janesville’s south side caused an estimated $300,000 worth of damage Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters were dispatched to Novares Manufacturing and Distribution at 2929 Venture Dr. shortly before 2:30 p.m. for a report of pallets burning next to the building, according to a news release.

When crews arrived at the scene they found plastic pallets on the building’s south side burning. The building that houses Novares was directly damaged by the fire. A car parked nearby also started on fire, officials said.

Within seven minutes of arrival, crews had the fire under control, according to the release. Four hours later, the manufacturing and distribution center resumed production.

A total of 23 firefighters responded to the scene.

Crews from the Beloit, Milton and Footville fire departments provided support at the scene. Officials said the Rock County Sheriff’s Office provided an airboat to help with ventilation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
