An early-morning fire at The Barn Restaurant and Bar on Sunday is under investigation, according to Sauk County officials.

A news release said firefighters and emergency responders were sent to the fire on County Highway DL just outside Baraboo at about 6:15 a.m. to extinguish the fire, which collapsed the building’s roof.

On Saturday, Fire Chief Kevin Stieve said a planned, controlled fire burned down the Farm Kitchen just down the road from The Barn.

The fire at The Barn, on the other hand, will be investigated, according to the news release. The Baraboo Fire Department and the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation and the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives will look into the cause and origin of the fire.

Stieve said he couldn’t make any further comments, but The Barn’s owner, Amber Giddings, posted on Facebook on Saturday that it appeared the restaurant had been broken into the night before.

Anyone with information can call the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office at 608-356-4895 or the Sauk County Tipster line at 1-888-TIP-SAUK.

Still a pretty big presence at the Barn Restaurant in Baraboo, considering the fire came through here around 6 this morning. They are investigating the cause though, esp. since the owner said it looked like someone broke in the night before. #news3
