Fire at Amish cabinetry factory reignited, officials say
HILLPOINT, Wis. — A fire that destroyed an Amish cabinetry factory overnight has restarted, officials said.
The fire, which crews worked until early Sunday morning to extinguish, reignited Sunday afternoon.
Officials with the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office said they were first called to the Schmucker Cabinetry on State Highway 154 around 11 p.m. Saturday. When first responders arrived, they found the building fully engulfed in flames.
No one was injured in the blaze, but the building is considered to be a total loss.
Hillpoint Fire authorities told our crews on scene that they still do not know the cause of the fire, but said it likely starting because of saw wood and a varnishing rag.
Officials said someone will investigate the fire later Sunday.
Owners of the building told News 3 Now they have insurance and expect to be OK, especially since they have been busy due to a demand for wood.
