Final preparations underway as CrossFit Games return to Madison
MADISON, Wis. — The fight for the title of “Fittest on Earth” gets started in Madison Tuesday as the CrossFit Games begin.
Crews worked through the weekend to transform the Alliant Energy Center into an Olympic-like fitness village.
Thousands of people are expected to gather to watch more than 600 athletes from around the world square off in feats of strength, speed, agility and stamina. They’re all competing for a share of $2.5 million in prize money, along with that honor of being crowned the “Fittest on Earth.”
The Games return to Madison after being away for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Actually seeing everybody is very reassuring,” said Canada’s country manager, Paul Tremblay. “It’s very nice to see fans actually come and watch live competition, it’s huge. The athletes feed off the fans so much, so it’s great to finally have them back in the stadium.”
The Games begin Tuesday and run through Sunday. Individual tickets start at $25, and CBS Sports will air live coverage of the individual finals on Sunday afternoon.
