Fifth Dane Co. deputy tests positive for COVID-19

MADISON, Wis. — A fifth Dane County Sheriff’s deputy has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.

The deputy was assigned to the Dane County Jail. The other four deputies who tested positive also worked in the jail. Inmates at the jail have also tested positive for the virus.

Officials said the deputy last worked in the jail on Thursday.

The 27-year-old is in isolation and recovering at his home, according to the sheriff’s office.

The four other deputies who tested positive are also recovering at home.

As of Tuesday, the jail population in all three facilities is 466.
