Ferdinand F. “Felix” Wildgruber

Ferdinand F. “Felix” Wildgruber, age 73, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 3, 2012. He was born on June 26, 1939 in Munich, Germany, in the state of Bavaria, the son of Martin and Theresa (Schmid) Wildgruber. He grew up in Viehbach, Germany in a large family which he continued to keep in close touch with all his life. He completed the Steamfitters Apprenticeship before coming to the United States at the age of 18. Soon after arriving in the U.S., he served in the United States Air Force. He then completed a 5 year electrical apprenticeship with IBEW Local Union #159. He was united in marriage to Virginia Hollfelder on June 17, 1967 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Madison. Together they were blessed with 5 children, which they raised in the Verona area.

His life’s work was as an electrician, but also worked at Ideal Body Shop in his early years and continued his knowledge working on his own cars. Felix had many talents. He built his family’s home. He was a soccer coach for the Verona recreation Department for many years. In his younger years he played ping-pong, winning trophies for Madison. He also played soccer for Madison 56’ers. Later Felix struck a passion for playing cards, Euchre and Cribbage being his favorites.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ginny; 4 children: Kristine (Jim) Zweifel, Stephen (Michelle) Wildgruber, Laurie Wildgruber and Theresa (Ryan) Mock; 7 grandchildren: Camille and Eve Zweifel, Amara Seth, and Sierra, Ella, Jocelyn and Kyle Mock; 7 siblings: Theresa, Cecilia, Rosa, Centa, Hildegard, Franz and Elfriede; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael and siblings: Katherine, Adolf, Martin, and Marta.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 301 N. Main Street, with Father William Vernon officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Ryan Funeral Home, 220 Enterprise Drive, Verona, where a rosary service will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Paoli Cemetery.
