Alston Nutter, a Fennimore native, is gearing up for the Greco-Roman Junior Worlds in Tallinn, Estonia, Friday.

At 63 kilograms, Nutter will face Zaur Nuriyev, from Azerbaijan, in his first bout, according to USA Wrestling.

Nuriyev was 10th in the 2019 European Junior Championships.

Nutter wrestled two years at Fennimore High School before transferring to Northern Michigan University Olympic Training Site to train.

While at FHS, Nutter complied a record of 96-7, which included a state championship his freshman year and a second-place finish his sophomore year, according to USA Wrestling.

Nationally, Nutter is an eight-time All-American in Greco wrestling. Internationally, Nutter has placed in six tournaments, including a gold at Denmark Junior Bear Cup where he was named most outstanding wrestler.
