MADISON, Wis. — While no criminal charges will be filed in the police shooting of Jacob Blake, the United States Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Wisconsin says the civil rights investigation into the shooting is still ongoing.

A statement from the U.S. Attorneys’ office says that civil rights investigation is being conducted by the FBI in cooperation with the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation, and is being overseen by prosecutors from the U.S. Attorneys’ Office and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division. Those prosecutors will ultimately be the ones to make a charging decision in the civil rights case.

The civil rights investigation was launched on August 26th, three days after Blake was shot.

The U.S. Attorneys’ Office did not indicate when a possible charging decision in the civil rights case could be made.
