FBI seeks public’s help identifying credit union robbers
Robbers displayed guns in some incidents
MILWAUKEE — The FBI Milwaukee Division said it’s seeking the public’s help in identifying serial robbers responsible for the robberies of seven credit unions and one bank in southeastern Wisconsin in just over a month.
Of the eight recent robberies, robbers displayed a handgun in at least six.
The FBI said it’s investigating recent robberies these financial institutions:
Oct. 18 — Educators Credit Union, 7139 N. Port Washington Rd., Glendale
Oct. 22 — Landmark Credit Union, 6219 Washington Ave., Mt. Pleasant Oct. 23 — Landmark Credit Union, 1931 Grove Avenue, Racine Nov. 5 — TruStone Financial, 2707 30th Ave., Kenosha Nov. 6 — Landmark Credit Union, 1931 Grove Avenue, Racine (second occurrence) Nov. 13 — North Shore Bank, 6906 Green Bay Road, Kenosha Nov. 16 — Landmark Credit located at 3600 N. 124th Ave., Wauwatosa Nov. 20 — Southern Lakes Credit Union 5001 60th Street, Kenosha
In the robbery on Oct. 18, two people wearing Halloween masks robbed the credit union at gunpoint and fled in a white van which was abandoned in the 7200 block of North Mohawk Road in Glendale. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in this case. Anyone with information should call Glendale Police Department at 414-228-1753.
In the Oct. 23 robbery, one man who was masked displayed a handgun, robbed the credit union and fled on foot. The robber was described a light-skinned black man standing 6 feet to 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing about 175-200 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black ski mask and black pants. Anyone with information should call Racine Police Department at 262-635-7700.
On Nov. 6, the Landmark Credit Union in Racine was robbed again by three masked subjects, and at least one of the robbers appeared to be armed, the FBI said.
On Nov. 16, a man robbed Landmark Credit in Wauwatosa. The robber was described as having a dark complexion, 25-40 years old, weighing 180-200 pounds with short, natural black hair and facial hair. He was seen wearing a white crew-neck T-shirt and dark shorts.
The FBI said it was also reported that a second man was seen driving the robber from the bank. Anyone with information should call the Wauwatosa Police Department at 414-471-8430.
In the Nov. 20 incident, the robber is described as a black man with a gun in his mid to late 20s, standing at least 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
The robber is described as having a deep voice, a thin, light mustache and crooked teeth with a space between his front upper teeth. Witnesses reported the robber had a long curl-type hair style that partially covered his face and appeared to possibly be a wig or extensions. The Landmark Credit Union is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the robbers. Anyone with information on these cases is urged to call local law enforcement or the FBI Milwaukee Division at 414- 276-4684.
