FBI raid on Milwaukee fire station leads to child pornography arrest
MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee firefighter was arrested in Montana Friday and faces charges of possession and distribution of child pornography, FBI officials said.
In a news release Saturday, FBI officials said they discovered evidence during a raid Feb. 10 that a firefighter assigned to Engine House 29 in Milwaukee may have been in possession of child pornography.
Officials issued an arrest warrant for the firefighter, Robert Rutley, 44, on Monday, after which Rutley fled the area, the release said.
Officials learned Rutley was in Montana, where he was arrested by the Montana Highway Patrol after a traffic stop in Big Horn County, the release said.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Rutley was suspended for five days without pay in 2014 for violating the department’s conduct rules by placing pornography in the engine house at the station to which he was assigned at the time.
