Farm equipment fire causes $100K in damage, officials say
A farm equipment fire in a corn field caused an estimated $100,000 in damage Wednesday afternoon, according to a release.
The Janesville Fire Department was sent to 2612 Oakhill Ave. to put out a fire in a corn field, officials said.
The owner of the piece of equipment had parked it in a spot that caused minimal crop damage, according to the release.
Investigators said the fire likely started because of radiant heat from the machinery combined with the corn husks and other byproducts.
