Family of five displaced after fire in west Madison
MADISON, Wisc. — A family of five was displaced after a structure fire on the west side of the city.
A 911 call came in at 11:13 a.m. Wednesday, and the Madison Fire Department was on the scene six minutes later, according to Public Information Officer Cynthia Schuster.
The fire started in the basement of a duplex on the 2000 block of Frisch Road.
“It sounds like the damage luckily was contained to the room of origin, which is good,” Schuster said. “That means we caught the fire early and didn’t have a chance to grow out of control and really cause a lot of damage inside the home. We are glad for that.”
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they saw smoke outside of the duplex. They put the fire out within five minutes, Schuster said.
She said the family who lived in the duplex will receive assistance from the American Red Cross.
