Family displaced after early morning fire
TOWN OF CHRISTIANA, Wis. — A family is displaced after an early morning fire south of Deerfield, fire officials said.
Cambridge Fire Department officials said a call came in reporting a residential fire on Highway 73 near Hillcrest Road around 3:50 a.m. Firefighters responded to the home, where a fire had started on the porch and spread into the house.
Everyone was able to get out of the house safely and without injury, fire officials said. A cat was rescued from the home and is expected to be okay, and another cat is unaccounted, for but the family told firefighters it’s often outside.
Cambridge and Deerfield firefighters were on scene for nearly four hours, officials said.
Highway 73 was closed for more than three hours while crews battled the fire, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
