MADISON, Wis. — The YMCA of Dane County announced Wednesday that 20 families took advantage of the YMCA’s drop-in child care during recent school closures.
The YMCA of Dane County Lussier Family East, Lussier Family West and Northeast YMCA branches offered drop-in child care to working parents while schools were closed Monday and Tuesday, according to a release.
“The YMCA is here to meet the needs of our community and we want to be part of the solution,” President and CEO of the YMCA of Dane County Carrie Wall said. “We can provide students quality programming, and the response from parents needing child care was very positive.”
Madison Metropolitan School District Superitendent Jen Cheatham said she appreciated that the YMCA and its staff were able to provide child care to working families when the district had to cancel classes due to the extreme cold weather.
