Extra security at Madison West HS after threat
Building will be completely searched before school
MADISON, Wis. — Madison West High School will be open Tuesday as detectives investigate who left a violent and threatening message on a school desk.
Principal Beth Thompson emailed parents Monday night about the message. She said there would be a full search of the building Tuesday before classes start.
Thompson said there will also be additional security and Madison Police officers at the school throughout the day as a precaution.
Thompson sent another email to parents Tuesday afternoon saying, based on several rumors among students about the threat, school leaders held students in class for eighth period as an additional safety precaution, but classes continued as normal.
“We recognize that a situation like this can cause anxiety for many. The safety of our students is our top priority, we take all situations seriously and all of the measures we took today were precautions,” Thompson said in the email.
