Extra security at Madison East HS Monday following threat
Students attending Madison East High School will find extra safety precautions at school Monday after a threat was written on the wall of a student restroom Friday.
Madison East Principal Mike Hernandez sent a note to parents about the added security measures.
Hernandez said school will remain open, but they will make extra precautions, such as restricting access to specific entrances, holding a closed lunch, rather than allowing students to leave campus, and working with Madison police to provide additional security at our building throughout the day.
“We recognize that a threat like this can cause anxiety for many,” Hernandez wrote in the email. “We wanted to inform you so that you have the opportunity to talk with your child about how they are feeling and about the precautions that we will be taking on Monday.”
Hernandez said he hopes the threat doesn’t keep students from experiencing a safe and normal school day, especially since this week kicks off homecoming week.
