Evelyn Olivia Daines

Evelyn Olivia Daines went peacefully to her LORD on Monday, December 24, 2012 at Norseland Nursing Home where she had been a resident. Evelyn was born May 2, 1924 to Olie and Edna Salmonson in 24 Valley of rural La Farge. She was baptized and confirmed at Sandhill Bethany Lutheran Church. She graduated from Cashton High School in 1942. On December 30, 1942 she was joined in marriage to James Enos Daines. They had seventy wonderful years together. They farmed together in Potts Corners on the family farm until they were forced to move by the government. Evelyn was very active in her church and community. She was Ladies Aid president for many years and she taught Sunday school while her children were attending. She was very active in the Lower Weister Homemakers, where she was a charter member. She wanted the community youth to achieve their goals when she started the Kickapoo Rustlers 4-H club, and she was a general leader for over 45 years. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Evelyn is survived by:her husband James, Seven children: Reverend Gary (Mary) Daines of Westby, Ruth (Eugene) Wild of Readstown, Paul (Rhonda) Daines of La Farge, Sharon (Richard) Corcoran of Black River Falls, Donna (Terry) Rigby of Westby, Myra Daines of La Farge, John (Colleen) Daines of Cashton, Grandchildren: Greg (Jenny) Daines, Brenda (David) Maxwell, Robert (Anna) Newlun, Krystal Hallmark, Aimee Hodge, Terry Daines, Tammy Daines, Kevin Daines, Nichole (Jason) Sullivan, Ryan Corcoran, Brandon Corcoran, Dawn (Steve) Rumppe, Tracy (Mark) Erickson, Mackenzie Daines, Spencer Daines, 24 great grandchildren, One great great grandchild, her daughter in law: Celene Daines, her sister: Agnes Everson, her sister in law: Bonnie (Dave) McAllister, many nieces and nephews, and her loving church family and Weister Creek neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jimmy Daines; her brother Leonard (Swede) Larson; two brothers in law: Edward Everson and Vaughn Daines; and a sister in law Pauline McNamer.

Evelyn was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and friend of many.

A special thank you to the staff of Norseland Nursing Home for the great care they gave our wife and mother.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the BETHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH AT SANDHILL. Burial will be in the Sandhill Cemetery. Visitation for Evelyn Daines will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the SELAND HUSTON FUNERAL HOME in La Farge. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church from 10:00 AM until service time. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Bethania Cemetery Association. The Seland Huston Funeral Home of La Farge is serving the Daines family.
