Evelyn Mary Kelter
Evelyn M. Kelter, age 95, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie.
She was born in Sun Prairie on March 31, 1919, the daughter of the late Anton and Elizabeth (Meier) Speth. She was united in marriage to Werner F. Kelter on May 7, 1940 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Waunakee. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1998.
The couple farmed in the town of Prairie du Sac until retiring to Sauk City in 1978. Evelyn worked at St. Vincent DePaul and Maplewood Nursing Home for many years. She was a member of St. Aloysius Council of Catholic Women and St. Vincent DePaul Society. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, crocheting afghans, needlework and other volunteering.
She is survived by two sisters, Irene Hardy of Madison and Betty (Lester) Miller of Waunakee; a brother, Joseph (Anna) Speth of Mercersburg, PA; a sister-in-law, Margaurite Kelter; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter; two brothers, Roman and Jerome Speth; a sister, Leona (James) Virnig; three brothers-in-law, Clarence Hardy, Alfred and Hubert Kelter; and three sisters-in-law, Martha, Loretta and Catherine Kelter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Sauk City, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2014. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery. A visitation will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water St., Sauk City, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2014.
