Evelyn B. Willis
Evelyn was born near Richland Center, Wisconsin on October 9, 1915 the daughter of Charles and Iva (Locke) Grassman.
She graduated from Ithaca High School in 1933. Evelyn was united in marriage with Lester G. Willis on February 28, 1940. They operated their dairy farm together in Richland County until moving to Julesburg, CO in 1951. Evelyn and Les owned and operated a commercial laundry until Lester’s death in 1956. In 1961, Evelyn and her two children moved to Columbus, NE. She lived in Columbus until moving to St. Joseph’s Villa in David City, NE in 2011. She resided in the nursing home until her death on May 18, 2014.
Evelyn is survived by her son John (Joan) Willis of Columbus, NE daughter Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Willis-Heskew (Joe) of Council Bluffs, IA., four grandchildren seven great grandchildren one great great grandson, her sister in law: Helen Seitz of Wisconsin Rapids and many greatly loved extended family members.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Lester G. Willis; her parents, Charles and Iva (Locke) Grassman; brothers: Robert, Ralph, Kenneth, and Virgil; and her sister Rena Mae Grassman.
A Celebration of Life Visitation for Evelyn Willis will beheld from 10:00 AM until 12 noon on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the PRATT MEMORIAL CHAPEL. A luncheon will be served beginning at noon, and committal services will be held following the luncheon at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Willow Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the wishes of the family.
