Esther T. Reau
Madison: Esther Thelma Reau, age 86, of Madison, died peacefully at home on Sunday, July 22, 2012. She was born October 18, 1925 in Pittsville, the daughter of Walter A. and Lottie (Edgerly) Cook.
Esther married Roger Jensen and together they had three children. He preceded her in death and she was later married to Lawrence Reau, who also preceded her in death.
Esther was a very active, 65 year member of Lakeview Lutheran Church where she was involved in the choir, running the library, as a deacon, with the food pantry, Sunday School, and the prayer chain. She loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens, caring for her many pets over the years, and watching and pampering her birds, maintaining bird feeders, baths, houses and habitat for them. She will also be remembered for her concern for the environment and being the “Recycling Queen”.
Esther is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Jensen, Madison; son, Ralph Jensen, McFarland; grandchildren, Jeff (Vickie) Vollenweider, Kimberly (Dale) Richmond, Patrick Jensen; great grandchildren, J.J. Vollenweider, Michael Richmond; a sister, Vivian Lindert and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Roger and Lawrence; a daughter, Carol Lynn Jensen; and a granddaughter, Kristina Lynn Jensen.
We extend a thank you to wonderful staffs of Hartland Hospice and the Meriter Hospital; the nurses, CNA’s , doctors and surgeons for their special care. A special thank you goes to the John Watts family for their continuous support in so many ways through the years.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Lakeview Lutheran Church Historic Chapel (behind the main church), 4001 Mandrake Road, with Reverend Mary Pharmer officiating.
Burial will follow at Lakeview Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Wednesday at the Chapel from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
