Ernest A. Hosig
Ernest A. Hosig, age 93 passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Maplewood Nursing Home.
He was born in Black Hawk, Troy Township, on March 24, 1919 to Alex and Rose Fisher Hosig. Ernie attended Sauk City High School graduating with the class of 1937. He was united in marriage to Doris Schaefer on June 8, 1944. Ernie was employed many years by Ted Diehl in the Fair View Cheese Factory in Harrisburg and later became a faithful worker with Mr. Ted Diehl in the Celo Bottling Co. in Sauk City. Much joy occurred with the birth of his daughter, Mary Lee. Ernie was always willing to serve and contribute in so many ways. He was a member of Concordia United Methodist Church, past member of the Prairie du Sac Fire Department, the Prairie du Sac Cemetery Board, Sauk Prairie Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Zor Shrine and a supporter and friend of the Prairie du Sac Library.
Survivors include his wife, Doris, a daughter; Mary Lee Lyon, sisters-in-law; Audrey (Calvin) Schneller and Florence Hosig, brother-in-law; Denman Kramer, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and special friends, Greg and Lyn Coenen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister; Erna (Henry) Kuhnau, a niece; Marlene Schiffman, a brother; Don Hosig and a sister-in-law; Caroline Kramer. Ernie leaves us with a legacy of being a gentle spirit among us.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Concordia United Methodist Church, Prairie du Sac with Pastors Doris Simpson and Dwight Pulsfus officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated. The family would like to thank the staff of Maplewood and Dr. Steven Johnson for their excellent care of Ernie.
