Lighting fixtures used for the show come from ETC and help lighting designers create the magic on stage.
"It's part of our company's mission to have fun and make money, so today we're having fun but we're also learning about what our art is," company vice president of marketing David Lincecum said. "We contribute to the art of the theater and that's a great thing for our employees to experience."
ETC is headquartered in Middleton and has a manufacturing plant in Mazomanie.
Thursday's field trip isn't the first one employees have taken; in 215, the company rented out 10 theaters to take its workers to see "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
