Employee injured in grain elevator explosion, officials say
Landmark Services Cooperative employee suffers burn injuries
COTTAGE GROVE, Wis. — Dane County dispatch said one person was transported with injuries after an explosion in a grain elevator near Cottage Grove Wednesday.
Crews were dispatched to 3278 Highway N in Cottage Grove around 2:25 p.m. for reports of an explosion at Landmark Services Cooperative, officials said.
Authorities said one person was transported with what appeared to be burn injuries.
Landmark Services Cooperative COO Michael Elder said they are working to determine what caused the explosion that injured one employee.
Elder said parts of the grain elevator are damaged and will need to be replaced. The area affected by the explosion will be shut down for a period of time.
Landmark Services Cooperative is a member-owned cooperative business that provides agronomy, energy, animal nutrition, grain and transportation products and services to its more than 15,000 members in Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois, according to the company’s website.
