Cyclist hospitalized with minor injuries after driver hit her on Dane County highway


OREGON, Wis. — An elderly woman was hospitalized with minor injuries Friday morning after a car hit her on a Dane County highway.

Emergency crews responded around 10:55 a.m. to the 1400 block of County Highway D for a report of a crash. According to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, a 74-year-old Oregon woman was biking northbound on the roadway when a driver, also traveling northbound, turned in front of her and hit her.

The cyclist was treated and taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Officials with the Oregon Fire Department, Oregon Police Department and Dane County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

The driver of the car, a 74-year-old Monroe man, will be cited for failure to yield the right-of-way.
