Elton L. Ott
Elton L. Ott age 93 died peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, November 24, 2014 at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, Madison.
He was born on July 15, 1921 in Reeseville to Fredrick and Wilhelmina (Bickel) Ott. Elton served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was married to Rachel Hundley on January 30, 1945 in Columbus and together raised six children. Most of their married life, he and Rachel farmed in the Reeseville area. The couple wintered in Mission , TX for over 20 years. He enjoyed a trip to Washington DC with the Badger Honor Flight in 2011. Elton was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Sun Prairie.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Rachel of Sun Prairie; three sons, John (Susan) of Downers Grove IL, Edward (Karen) of Stoughton, Stanley of Milwaukee; one daughter, Janice Schmidt of Beaver Dam; a son-in-law, John Marks of Madison; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Violet McMillian of Beaver Dam; many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis; daughter, Rachel Jean Gradel-Marks; four brothers, Merlin, Fred, Orville and Vernon; one sister, Lorraine Weissmann; son-in-law, Jerry Schmidt and great granddaughter, Samantha Cannady.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M., on Monday, December 1, 2014 at PEACE EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 232 Windsor St., Sun Prairie. Pastor Gregory C. A. Lyon will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Lowell Cemetery, Lowell with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church.
