Ellen E. Prestil
Ellen E. Prestil, age 84, of Janesville, quietly passed away on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at Cedar Crest. She was born in Minneapolis, MN on June 11, 1930, the daughter of William and Julia Walchuk. She married Fabian A. Prestil in Minneapolis on May 8, 1954, and he preceded her in death on May 12, 1998. Ellen had worked as a beautician and teacher’s aid. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Catholic Church Women, and past president of the Altar Society. She was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, volunteer for Meals on Wheels, ECHO, and enjoyed her Monday Bridge group and Ceramics. Ellen loved being a grandmother and showed great pride in their life stories, and her baking was second to none.
Ellen is survived by her 2 sons, Anthony ( Robin Haynes) Prestil of Beloit and Matthew Prestil of Janesville; 2 daughters, Rebecca (Randall) Ramsey of Beloit and Angela (Lisa Koenecke) Prestil of Fitchburg; 6 grandchildren: Tony, Ryan, Katelyn, Elaina, Ross and Joey; and 2 sisters, Olga Markovich and Barbara Pavlik both of Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers, John and Harry Walchuk; and sister, Anna Adler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at ST. JOHN VIANNEY ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, with Msgr. Donn Heiar officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. Lasting Memorials may be made to ECHO.
