Eldon G. Esser
Eldon G. Esser, age 79, of Highland, died on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a two year battle with cancer.
Eldon was born on January 18, 1942 in Highland to George and Florence (Lampke) Esser. He was a 1960 graduate of Highland High School. He married Sharon Scullion on November 24, 1962. The couple lived in Highland, where Eldon was Janitor for the Highland School District for many years. Eldon was a member of Ss. Anthony & Philip Parish; the Knights of Columbus and the Highland Historical Society. He was a retired Highland Fire Department Member. Eldon loved anything to do with Wisconsin sports, from Highland High School, the Badgers and the Packers, Bucks and Brewers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon on January 8, 2017; his daughter, Cindi Williams; a grandson, David Geyer; his parents; a brother, Donald Esser; and Sharon’s parents, Tom and Dorothy Scullion.
Eldon is survived by four sons, Mark (Mary Kay) of Cobb; Gary (Sandy) of Highland; Lee (Nancy) of Dodgeville and Paul (Julie) of Spring Green; a son-in-law, Marc Williams of Mineral Point; 14 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Glen (Eva) of Mifflin; a sister, Corrine Keyes of Verona as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.
Eldon’s family wish to extend their sincere gratitude to Upland Hills Hospice for their compassionate care and to Dan and Carla Scullion and Charlie and Lynn Scullion for their support to Eldon and his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Ss. Anthony & Philip Catholic Church. Fr. Kenneth J. Frisch will officiate with burial in St. Philip’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday after 9:00 A.M.
