Elda C. Hottenstein
Elda C. Hottenstein, 93, of Platteville, died on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Manor Care Health Services, Platteville.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Elda was born on October 12, 1921 in Grant County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Alfred and Margaret (Menne) Kelly. She was united in marriage to Herman Hottenstein on July 18, 1944 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Tennyson. He preceded her in death on December 21, 2006.
Elda farmed along with her husband, Herman, for many years. She was the bookkeeper for Lone Pine Cheese Factory and later worked for Homeward Bound. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Platteville. She enjoyed crocheting, where she made afghan’s for her entire family over the years. Elda was a care giver to her grandchildren and other children whenever needed.
She is survived by her daughter, Marie Kratochvill; son, David (Sandra) Hottenstein; daughter-in-law, Pat Hottenstein; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death also by her parents, son, Gene on March 14, 2009, son-in-law, Bob Kratochvill, and two brothers, Reuben and Mark Kelly.
