Elaine L. Linde
Elaine L. Linde, age 85, of Janesville died on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Our House Assisted Living. She was born in Janesville on March 26, 1927, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Elsie (Smith) Vick. Elaine graduated from Janesville High School in 1945 and later married Ralph J. Linde in the Rectory of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Janesville on February 26, 1949. Elaine was a member of St. William Catholic Church for many years. Before her first child was born Elaine worked as a secretary at Parker Pen. Later after all her children were in school, she worked at Kennedy Rexall at Sunnyside for a few years before health issues forced her to quit. Over the years, she had been a member of the Over 50 Club, TOPS, and one of the founding members of the Parker High School Booster Club as the recording secretary. She was also a past member of the Rock County Historical Society and prided herself in knowing Janesville’s history and architecture.
She will be missed by her many friends, especially Doretta “Sis” Stewart and Helen Hulick, whom she has been friends since high school. She truly enjoyed the yearly luncheon with her high school classmates, catching up on families and news even though she was unable to attend the last few due to health issues.
She is survived by her husband of over 63 years, Ralph; three children, Craig (Debbie) Linde of Palmer, MI; Brian (Pamela) Linde of Janesville; and Christine (Harald) Rek of Janesville; six grandchildren, Jessica (Ron) Mulsoff, Shane (Kris) Linde, Travis (Lexi) and Troy Linde, and Kelly and Andy Rek; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother, Robert Vick of Peoria, AZ; sister-in-law, Margaret Vick of Janesville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey, on March 6, 2011; infant grandson, Jason Linde; her sister, Charlene Galbrecht; and two brothers, Jerald “Big Boy” Vick and Harold “Tommy” Vick and her sister-in-law Harriet Koeberl on October 5, 2012.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at St. William Catholic Church, 456 N. Arch St. with Fr. John Auby officiating. Burial will follow at Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:30 AM until the time of the service at the church.
Memorials would be greatly appreciated if they were made in Elaine’s name to St. William Parish or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
