Edward Ruhling Braumann
DeForest- Edward Ruhling Braumann, age 81, of DeForest and formerly of Guilford CT, passed away on June 19, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving wife Katherine and his children. Edward was born in New York, NY on December 11, 1932, son of the late Kati Kielmeyer and Ewald Otto Braumann and husband of the late Natalie Knowles Braumann. Upon his graduation from Edison Vocational & Tech High School in Mount Vernon, NY, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was awarded a position as Aviation Cadet. Edward proudly served 20 years as an Air Force Pilot, serving in Vietnam and Thailand. His dedicated service earned him the Bronze Star, three Air Metal Awards and other accolades, and the rank of Major and Squadron Commander of the 310 ARS. Upon retirement from the Air Force in 1972, he returned to Guilford, CT, where he joined McDonald Knowles Realty as partner, and later owner, and was an active member of the Lion’s Club and Rotary. Edward and Katherine retired and moved to DeForest, WI to enjoy hunting, fishing and traveling.
He is survived by his wife Katherine Braumann; his children Edward Donald of Madison, CT, Annalisa of Deep River, CT, Lurene Kay of Niantic, CT, Robert Heinz of Guilford , CT, and Andrew Mitchell of Ashburn, VA; and his step-children William Humbert of Bozrah, CT, and Christina Mullaney of Warwick, RI. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11:00AM, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest, on Monday, June 23, 2014, with Pastor Jerry Olson officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00AM until time of the service at the funeral home on Monday.
