Editorial: Second District Debate
Hearing directly from the candidates.
SECOND DISTRICT DEBATE
Given the increasingly vicious and misleading content of candidate advertising we as citizens become increasingly reliant on candidate debates for at least the possibility of some unscripted, spontaneous responses to questions about issues and qualifications. To their credit the four Democratic candidates hoping to succeed Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin have agreed to a primary election debate this Tuesday night.
WISC TV is proud to partner with the University of Wisconsin-Madison in sponsoring the debate at 7 p-m at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery. Political Science professor Ken Mayer and WISC political reporter Jessica Arp will question the four candidates and I’ll serve as moderator. The hour long event will then be broadcast next Sunday on WISC TV and TVW. But Tuesday’s debate is open to the public, although seating is limited. Getting there by 6:30 would be smart. We’re happy to collaborate with the UW on providing this important opportunity and we look forward to hearing directly from the candidates.
