Editorial: Madison Community Foundation’s holiday gift to Madison

First of all, to all of you celebrating the holiday, Merry Christmas. And in the spirit of the season we wish you all peace and joy and some reflection on the gifts we enjoy living in this community we share.

Regardless of our circumstances we have abundant resources in greater Madison that extend throughout the WISC viewing area and reach of Channel3000.com, and one of those is the Madison Community Foundation.

Last week, MCF announced this year’s Community Impact Grants to Dane County nonprofits and they totaled $813,000. It’s a big number, but it’s also the strategically targeted recipients that will have such a great impact.

The work of the Literacy Network, Madison Reading Project, Community Shares, First Tee of South Central Wisconsin, Maydm and others, 22 grants in all, will benefit greatly from MCF’s investments in that work.

Community partnerships are critical to our quality of life here. There’s no bigger partner than the Madison Community Foundation.
