Editorial: Housing for veterans
MADISON, Wis. — Being home to the largest veterans family housing development in the nation is the kind of achievement for which those of us who live in Dane County can be proud.
And it happened because Dane County government considers it important, because Gorman and Company makes this kind of affordable housing a priority, and because Dryhootch is a terrific veterans’ services provider. That’s a nice combination.
The city of Madison has been more committed to housing for veterans lately, but the Dane County, Gorman, Dryhootch project kicks things up a notch. The 64 units, some targeting families, and services available onsite for veterans from Dryhootch and other agencies, are the kind of payback our veterans deserve for their service.
And as we said, there’s nothing wrong with being recognized as one of the best places for veterans in the country. Our thanks and appreciation for everyone involved.
